🎣 Back-to-Back Offshore Action with Kay K IV! 🌊
It was a banner couple of days on board the Kay K IV here in beautiful Islamorada, Florida! This group of anglers made the most of their time in the Sportfishing Capital of the World with two unforgettable days on the water. Day one brought non-stop action offshore — the mahi were thick, and we pulled in a few tuna to switch things up. Not wanting to leave Florida without one more trip, the same group of anglers jumped back on board the very next morning. We headed out early, found the tuna fast, and filled the box again — all in time to get back to the dock by noon, with plenty of time for them to make their flight home. Great fishing, great company — that’s what it’s all about on the Kay K IV. 🎣💥 Ready for your turn? Book your fishing charter trip with Captain Dave (305) 393-0398.

9/12/2025 0 Comments Nice Half Day On The Reef…On this beautiful morning Brandon and his daughter Stephanie showed their reef fishing skill . They caught plenty of nice snappers to take home and enjoy for months to come. Brandon showed me how to keep the fish from being eaten by the bull sharks too. It’s always a fun day when Brandon is on board. Can’t wait to do it again.
9/8/2025 0 Comments Special Morning On The Kay K…We had a morning half day charter with an eight year olds first time on the ocean and his grandfathers eightieth birthday on board. The Blackfin tunas have been biting and the live bait has been very cooperative as well. That’s the combination for a lot of fun and good memories. We managed to avoid the rain in the forecast and caught our limit of tunas. First mate Gunner Creel did a great job keeping the rhythm going. I already can not wait to do it again.
8/25/2025 0 Comments Rolling With The Good Times…Two days of lifting and cranking. Wayne and his buddies come down to take a break from work , enjoy being on the water and catch some fish. They had a successful trip again this year and are shipping since weight back home though ship your catch in Tavernier, Florida. Ship you catch is a local fish shipping company that provides a fish packing and shipping services for those catches that exceed the limit of cook you catch at a local restaurant, like wahoos bar and grill. I’m gonna miss Wayne, until next year. I can’t wait to fish with you again.
8/22/2025 0 Comments Great Experience…Today, everything was perfect from start to finish. You couldn’t ask for nicer weather. The bait in the morning responded and the fishing was good too. It’s really nice when every thing works. I am fortunate to be able to fish with some guys that I grew up with. I’ve known Cory Stewart since I was a child in Pompano Beach. Now I fish with him and his wife and friends every year. Its great when everything works out and I’m looking forward to fishing with them for many years ahead.
8/19/2025 0 Comments Taylin Put This Catch Together…Today was annother great day on the Kay K IV. We experience a lot of different things in this thing called life. Today we were gifted the experience of fishing with a young woman named Taylin. Her courage to step to the back of the boat and battle some black fin tunas and crank up a nice catch of yellowtail snappers goes unmatched. She definitely is no stranger to overcoming adversity. Ten days after her birth she was diagnosed with meningitis and has had over 14 brain surgeries. Her life has been full of challenges. You can learn more about her story if you go on Youthtube: Taylins Story. We were able to catch ten tunas and 16 yellowtails and had another incredible experience. I can not wait for the next time to spend the day with Taylin in the ocean again.
8/17/2025 1 Comment Relaxing Day In Islamorada…The weather is right, the fishing is right, and the time is right to be here in Islamorada. I have fished with these guys several times in the past and today wasn’t any different with young Bryson catching most of the fish. It’s always great when we get the perfect combination of calm seas, and cooperative fish. We caught plenty of Blackfin tuna and yellowtail snapper to feed a family for days. We also managed to catch a tasty yellow jack and a mutton snapper as our bonus fish. As things slow down here in the Florida Keys, it’s my fovorite time of the year to fish. Can’t wait to go do it again.
8/12/2025 0 Comments Some Great Days…We always have great days with Patricia and David on board. Whether the fishing is off the chart or it’s tough to find a bite. These two bring it every year when they come down. Patricia always sets the hook and brings in her catch, while Dave just reels them in. They are already planning next years trip. I’m already excited for it.
7/18/2025 0 Comments These Boys Hooked Em Up…Second year in a row fishing with this family and all Tate and Asher want to do is fish. So we spent the time and went the distance looking for mahi. After going to 1200 feet we came back in to 900 and found life. It was great watching these young men cast to the fish , hook em up and repeat. We had first mate Steven in the tower, keeping the boat with the school of fish. While I worked the pit , baited hooks and released undersized fish. Was a very fun day. The family had plenty to take to the restaurant and bring home. We just never get enough and can’t wait to do it again.
We gave it our best shot at catching mahi. I’ve fished with Rick and Bruce and their families for several years. We’ve seen the epic days and the tough ones together. Today the mahi bite was tough , so we ended the day on the reef catching some nice sized snappers.. it was fun spending the day with Robert and Kyle on the boat. I always look forward to doing it again.
7/12/2025 0 Comments First Impressions…Well, Fred has planned this trip to Islamorada weeks ago with his wife Nicole. He’s been calling me and asking questions about the fishing, the weather, and different restaurants. He was just making sure that everything would be just right. The Seas were quite sporty yesterday as we had a 18 mph SE wind and a fast moving gulfstream current charging right into it. However the ocean was very much alive. We saw blue marlin tailing, sand bar sharks, and caught a limit of mahi all in about 600 feet of water. This was the first time Nicole fished in the ocean and I think we made a pretty good first impression. Can’t wait to do it again.
7/10/2025 0 Comments Still Plenty Of Mahi…A happy anniversary to these two. And a good day of catching mahi in Islamorada. We started early, catching live bait on the grass patches in18 feet of water. Then fished our way out to 950 feet of water. Once we got to 650 the gulfstream current was really moving and the seas picked up. That’s where we had to go to get into some mahi. Can’t wait to do it again.
7/7/2025 0 Comments Third Time’s A Charm…Bill and Mark have fished with me on three different occasions this year. These two gentlemen can catch some mahi. They’ve been fishing the Kay K IV for a few years now. Their Mahi legacy dates back to the early eighties, with the likes of such legendary captains like Scottie Kingsley on the “Swashbuckler” and Ted Desposito on the “Something Special”. It wasn’t easy today. The fish were spread out and would run away from the boat if you tried to get close and cast a bait at them. Wasn’t sure we would catch our two person limit. We found a turtle that was loaded with mahi swimming with it.
6/26/2025 0 Comments It’s Always A Pleasure…Whether on the water or on land , it’s always a pleasure spending time with Sheldon, Lauren, & John. This day couldn’t have been better. We caught plenty of mahi and even scored a wahoo. I’ve spent several days on the ocean with this family and they are all memorable. As always, this day was no different.
6/18/2025 1 Comment Fishing With Steve Is A Blast…The last couple of days has been a real treat . I’ve fished with Steve the last four or so years. Him and his wife are a couple of the kindest people in the world. They like to get involved in all the things we do to catch different species of fish. Steve was even rebooking the baits we were catching to use for our mahi adventure. It always makes for a great time when anglers get involved. See you next time.
6/18/2025 0 Comments Two of the Greatest…A couple natural born fish slayers right here. Legendary Kay K IV anglers, CP and Joe have been killing it here in Islamorada for years. And this weekend in March was no different. Limiting out on nice Yellowtail Snapper and a large Blackfin tuna. Looking forward to doing it again. I miss you guys!
6/18/2025 0 Comments June 18th, 2025The beginning of June it was an honor to have Dr. Mike Duncan aboard the Kay K IV . He’s always a hoot and a great angler. He’s quick to cast a bait to some fish and insists on tying on his own hook. Can’t wait to fish with him again next year. We were able to catch plenty of mahi and Blackfin tuna with him and his family.
6/18/2025 0 Comments Life Long Friends…On May 31, we struggled to find the Mahi, so we came in and fished the reef and saved the day catching some yellowtail snappers. I grew up with Adam and his brother Cory in Pompano Beach and am so grateful to still be friends with them now. It is always a pleasure spending the day with Adam and his wife Erin on the Kay K. They are truly a class act.
6/1/2025 0 Comments Amazing Day On The Kay K…Jason always books a couple of trips for himself and his son Quinn. They will do an afternoon tarpon trip and then a full day offshore. They are a couple of fishy guys. During the full day trip, we were able to catch a bunch of mahi a blue marlin. Quinns first. Then on the evening trip they caught a number of nurse sharks and one out of two tarpon. It’s alway a great time these two.
5/30/2025 0 Comments Short And Successful…Tuesday was a short day for us and we managed to catch a nice rack of mahi. Thankful for these two anglers. They did a great job and stayed in the action.
5/26/2025 0 Comments Rough Start , Smooth Finish…Today started out blowing hard out of the south east. If you don’t know, that’s blowing towards land for us and not a good direction for calm seas. We did find plenty of mahi today and also caught a couple of tunas. Halfway through the day the wind laid down and it was a beautiful day. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings has in store.
5/25/2025 0 Comments Good Weather And Good Fishing…A combination of goood weather and good fishing has been the daily experience lately. We haven’t had to go offshore too far to catch several mahi. Most of the fish we’ve been getting have been around 16 miles off. David and his company came to catch fish. Those guys did great, catching thirty mahi and twenty snappers. Even the guys with little experience crushed it with the help of Steven the cockpit co-ordinator.
5/24/2025 0 Comments Ladies Let’s Go Fishing…Last Saturday we fished another “Ladies Let’s Go Fishing “ tournament. A tournament put on by Miss Betty Bauman. She works very hard every year to organize tournaments for women. It’s always fun teaching the ladies the things that work to successfully catch and land fish. We’ve always said that women are the best anglers. We didn’t win the tournament or catch really big fish. We all had a fun day creating more memories.
5/22/2025 0 Comments The Weather Is Amazing…Pat and Charles love coming to Islamorada for some time on the ocean. This time Pat brought his adopted daughters along to share with them the fishing experience here. It was a great day with the wind and seas being down and the fish biting. No real big mahi on this day for us, but still caught plenty. Even a few snappers. See you guys again in July.
